The University Council of Jamaica is the national external quality assurance agency for higher education — the body that accredits programmes, assesses credentials and registers institutions. Across three consecutive annual reports we designed them a report system rather than three one-off documents: the same recognisable bones every cycle, with each year given its own cover thought — 2020–21 Assuring quality in higher education, 2021–22 Sustaining quality, geared for the times, and 2022–23 New pathways, same standard of quality.

A three-year annual report series for the UCJ: concept, layout system, data design and print-ready artwork. The Council’s ‘U’ became the series’ device — a rounded frame that crops photography on every cover and threads through chapter openers — while forest and bright greens keep each edition unmistakably UCJ.
Three years of accreditation data, credential assessments and registry records had to become documents people actually want to read — ministers, institutions and the public alike.
The Council’s green had to carry institutional authority without going flat — and each year needed its own energy inside one consistent system.
Dense chapters — programme accreditation, credential assessment by country, institutional registration — needed charts that read at a glance.
Build a report identity the UCJ owns: same structure every cycle, a fresh theme each year.
Turn the UCJ ‘U’ into the design device — a window for photography and a thread through every chapter.
Design the data, not default it: donut, bar and map figures set in the brand greens.
Three reports delivered as one recognisable series — side by side they read as siblings, while each cover speaks its own year. The 2022–23 edition pushes the system furthest: full-bleed photography inside the ‘U’, spring-green accents, and data chapters that make 392 accredited programmes legible at arm’s length.
