Ministry of Health & Wellness Careers Portal

The Ministry of Health & Wellness needed a careers site built for the people applying, not just the process behind them. An off-the-shelf applicant system could not carry the nuances of a government ministry, so we designed and built a custom portal instead: vacancy listings, guided applications, email verification and status tracking, all kept deliberately simple. Rather than propose a new brand, we extended the Ministry’s existing identity into a full digital product system.

Challenges & Objectives

Project Overview

A complete applicant experience for the Ministry’s HR team: browse vacancies, apply, verify by email, and track application status. Designed and built as a custom system tuned to how a government ministry actually hires, and matched visually to moh.gov.jm so applicants always know they are on an official service.

Challenges

Designing an application flow that honours ministry procedure while staying simple for a first-time applicant.

Earning trust: the portal had to feel unmistakably official from the first screen.

Extending an existing institutional brand into a digital product system it was never designed for.

Objectives

Keep the applicant journey plain: find a vacancy, apply, verify, track.

Carry the Ministry’s brand (Sofia Pro, navy, blue, green and gold) into a coherent interface system.

Give HR the structure of a purpose-built tool without the constraints of an off-the-shelf one.

Final Outcome

A careers portal that feels like the Ministry, end to end: Sofia Pro throughout, navy grounding every section, brand blue carrying the actions, and gold reserved for the moments that matter most to an applicant, like “Send verification code.” Simple where applicants need it, precise where government requires it.
