The Robert Carr Fund is the world’s leading international fund for civil society networks led by and serving inadequately served populations in the HIV response. For the 2025 Annual Report, themed “When systems fail, communities forge ahead,” we built the design around a single idea: interwoven ribbons in RCF red and blue, crossing and connecting like the networks the Fund exists to strengthen. That ribbon system threads through the entire report, carrying outcome storytelling, survey data and financial reporting with one voice.
A complete editorial build across the main report and five annexes: document architecture, a chart and infographic language for outcome data, and the ribbon motif as connective tissue: opening chapters, guiding wayfinding, and tying a hundred-plus pages into one continuous journey.
Translating a dense monitoring and evaluation framework (four outcome areas across 72 networks) into pages a policymaker can absorb.
Balancing data credibility with the human stories behind community advocacy.
Keeping one system consistent across the report and five technical annexes on a tight production cycle.
Build a modular structure around the Fund’s four outcome areas.
Design charts that make survey results legible at a glance.
Carry RCF’s pattern and colour identity through a hundred-plus pages without fatigue.

A report that embodies its own theme: when systems fail, communities forge ahead. The ribbons make that visible, weaving through every section the way networks weave through movements. Clear architecture, disciplined data design, and a visual voice that honours the communities behind the numbers. The system now anchors RCF’s reporting for the cycle ahead.
